Best Chinese food in town!

We went for lunch, the food was good. The waitress was harsh. In the end, we wanted to take “the soup” home that my sick father couldn’t finish. (He didn’t want to eat at all so I got an extra soup for him). When asked if we could have a box for our unfinished food, we were told we couldn’t take the soup. He took two bites. I only wanted the soup for him to eat later. It’s his favorite. “Can’t take the soup home”. If you can’t show compassion for your customers, I could care less how long a business has been in a community, or how good there food is. The bottom line for me is customer service. This is not the first time this has happened here but it will be the last.

The food is ok for all you can eat service. Fried rice and noodle are well cooked. Some meet are dry and hard. Need more light though.

The food was great! The won ton soup was my favorite...absolutely delicious and earthy tasting with mushrooms, chicken and shrimp. Our waitress was professional and friendly. Decent sized portions, Reasonably priced. Will be returning!

Went by at 8pm on January 18th and they were closed despite everything saying they were open until 10pm. What a waste of time.

They have the best Jumpong (Combination Noodle Soup) in Illinois, probably in USA. Sizzling rice soup is also delicious. Actually, everything is so good that our family make 2 hour round-trip regularly just for dining out. My only complaint is that they don't sell Jja-Jang-Myun. They occasionally close the restaurant for family issue or vacation. Therefore, it is better to call the restaurant whether it is open. For example, it was closed on 7/13/2019.

Just as good as I remembered before shut down. You can actually taste the various components unlike some places. Little pricey but you get alot of great tasting food.

Terrible experience here on my brother-in-law's birthday. One of our group ordered sweet and sour chicken, but asked what came with it. He was told just chicken and rice. When the dish came, the chicken had vegetables mixed in as well. When he explained he did not want vegetables, we were told he would have to pay for an additional serving. Not only did the supervisor also insist that we would have to pay for an additional serving without vegetables mixed in, but the waiter also insisted no one had asked him what came with the dish. Also, nowhere on the menu did it say vegetables came with the dish. The supervisor and waiter ended up arguing with us and insisted we pay for the food that was not made the way we wanted. Terrible customer service, we will never be going back!

The food and decor are wonderful here. The wait staff is very friendly as well. My wife and I have not visited in a while, but will be sure to come here more often.

My wife loves it, especially the almond chicken. I think tolerable at best. The inside is in drastic need of a remodel or at least a makeover. Usually carry out is at least 30 min. That was once for sizzling rice soup. Soup seriously 30 min wait. Sweet and sour is always an extra charge. Prices are high compared to other locations in town, and just not sure why. All of the brown sauce meals taste the same. I think some new items with actual seasoning would help, unless you like bland.

Friendly staff but the food is not worth the cost relative to other Chinese restaurants in the area.

It's not a buffet, which was fine, but surprised that they didn't have a very wide selection of entrees. I ordered Kung Pau Chicken, which was actually fairly bland. My wife had slightly better luck with her broccoli Chicken which she described as ok. She did enjoy the sizzling rice soup.

If I could give lower I would. Over priced, bland food with less than welcoming service. Complete waste of 50$! Never will return or recommend. Severely disappointed.

My lunch buffet experience was wonderful as always, bit the lack of allergen safe options means I cannot bring my fiance with me, which means you are losing my business until you cater to needs within the community. Food safety from an allergen standpoint is a major issue these days and should be treated seriously by any business wishing to serve the public.

As always a wonderful meal. Something special in Normal. The food is always top notch, served with expert presentation. Cannot recommend it highly enough. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Central Illinois.

After ordering $80 of food and being asked about what a dish included, they refused to replace the dish without charging us when it included a bunch of vegetables not listed on the menu that the server failed to disclose. We were so frustrated we gathered our things and left after paying.

I went to lunch with my kids and the gentleman that sat is down was kind. Then we met our waitress. OMG no smile, dryer than toast, and just rude. The food was no better. Never again!

Absolutely unequivocally without a doubt the best Chinese food in the area. Don't be fooled by any negative comments by the buffet crowd. There's other Chinese restaurants, and then there's mandarin garden.

Table order Chinese. Great service. Very flavorful dishes. Pot stickers, sizziling rice soup, wonton soup we're all good starters. Sechuan, lo mein and Mongolian we're all great. I'll be back.

The food and atmosphere was very enjoyable. They don't offer free refills on soda and if you want fried rice or noodles with your entree rather than the basic white rice, you have to buy a full serving as opposed to an up charge. It seems like they "nickel and dime" you here. The food was good and their oolong tea was delicious. We may go back sometime in the future but certainly no rush.

Horrible food, over cooked in a brown sludge sauce. It congealed as I was eating. I've had better food from a Chinese restaurant in the mall. The building is in poor shape, needs a lot of work.The service was weird- she asked us how we liked the food before we had even got a fork to our mouths. We did not see her again until she delivered the check.

High end prices for food that was just okay. Nothing wrong with the experience, but nothing to make us want to come back.

I truly hesitated to post this as I am not a negative person but my experience there while having lunch with a girlfriend was horrific. We went out for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and I heard this place was highly recommended.my friend ordered the buffet which had 20 minutes before it was over and I ordered a full dinner. Our waitress was quick to inform me that there were no free refills on the soda I ordered. When my friend returned from a trip to the buffet with three plates, because it was going to close down in 15 minutes, the waitresstold me that if I had one bite of the buffet I had to pay for the entire buffet I have no idea why she would say that as I had ordered a full meal. I felt like we were being watched the entire time. On top of that the chicken and broccoli that I ordered tasted like it was out of a can. Won't be back.

Quality Chinese food, there lunch prices are very reasonable however dinner gets quite pricey. I do recommend the calm elegance of the restaurant along with the tasty food that they offer. Don't forget the hot tea!

I've been going to Mandarin Garden House for years with my dad and have always enjoyed the food. Even through dietary changes (Vegetarian), I always find something good. Restaurant has a nice calm atmosphere and friendly staff.

This place is awesome. Very authentic Asian cuisine and great staff and atmosphere. For anyone not too adventurous, or even people that are, I recommend the Mongolian beef. You just can't go wrong. As an appetizer or side, get the egg drop soup, it's delicious. However, my favorite part is the hot tea.

I’ve been going to Mandarin Garden for 10 + years and the food has been consistently outstanding. Each food flavor stands out on its own in a dish. Unlike places that serve dishes where there is one flavor overall. I haven’t experienced rude staff there at all.

Consistently the best Chinese food in town. The Sunday buffet is an amazing deal with a small but superior selection of food. The food is always piping hot and delicious. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed, and the staff is very professional and friendly. Give it a try, and you won't be disappointed

Friendly staff, really good rice. I'm kinda into rice, so for me that's a big deal. Reasonably priced, very clean. Cute place for sure.
